Whether you’re coming from Ao3 or the ether, welcome to this weird little passion project driven by a genuine love of history, a stupidly obsessive research ethic, and just the right amount of insanity.
Over the past dew months I wrote We Are Not Strangers and published it on Ao3. My twin then asked me to write 2-3 more stories following the Revolution. I said I couldn’t because it’s all too interesting, and so I decided on seven stories total.
Currently, a rough draft of We Are Not Strangers is up on Ao3, but I will be taking down this story February 1, 2026 – so, if you’re interested in rereading, you should 100% download it from here ahead of time. We aim to publish the edited version of We Are Not Strangers (with extra scenes) on February 14 (Valentine’s Day, because I’m a sap).
This blog will continue to post about twice a week with some fun tidbits from this period of history (see more below)–along with some extra scenes! If you read We Are Not Strangers on Ao3, you’ll get two extra scenes (Rawdon v. Cunningham, and Fanthorp’s court-martial fallout). One extra will appear on this blog at the start of January, and one at the start of February.
The rest of the series is planned as follows:
Volume 1: Stubborn Things, Boston 1770
Volume 2: We Are Not Strangers, Boston 1775
Volume 3: New York 1776
Volume 4: Philadelphia 1778
Volume 5: New York 1780
Volume 6: South Carolina 1780
Volume 7: Yorktown 1781
(Yes, the one that’s already written is Vol 2… we’ll explain in the next post.)
You can also see the names of the MCs as well as a vague premise for each of them on each book’s respective page, though we reserve the right to change a detail or two! There’s also a list of resources that we will update as we go. Forgive us if they are a little under construction right now!
Leading up to the publication of each book, we’ll post profiles of the MCs with tidbits about their characters. We’ll also post updates on the progress of the books (titles, covers, where they’re available) as they are written, as well as little sneak peaks into the lives of the real-world people some of these characters are based on. If you followed We Are Not Strangers on Ao3, think of it like an expanded version of the endnotes!
